Sorceress Mwindo

The Sorceress commands the power of the spirits to destroy your enemies.

With her magic she can summon a Primal Monsoon to ravage the entire enemy formation. Even her basic attacks are deadly, as her Beating Sun spell gives her a chance to deal heavy damage and seal magic with each physical attack.

You can have up to 1 of this mercenary.

Assessment[]

The Sorceress is one of the top mercs in the game. Her Primal Monsoon AoE skill has been updated to scale to her level at higher levels like the General's Green Dragon Glaive does, and thus can do 2m-6m damage when well equipped and combined with maxed Retribution skill.

Mwindo is very expensive (to obtain, upgrade and skill up), but worth it for her high damage. Just be aware of the 4 turn cool down of Primal Monsoon.

Mwindo is a classic “glass cannon” character, although slightly more limited in scope. Her main utility is simply being a massive damage dealer and having a great full enemy formation debuff. When used properly and kept in the rear echelon, she has the ability to rain down the hurt on opponents. Particularly interesting is the fact that she has lower action costs than her nearest rival, the Witch, and can therefore potentially deal more damage in the same period of time.

Commentary[]

Mwindo is not an easy mercenary to use and will require some advanced tactical thinking. The four turn cool down for Primal Monsoon, for example, means that this AoE destructive skill should be planned for in advance . Primal Monsoon only costs 150 Action Power to cast though, which means that Mwindo can continue to attack even after casting her most devastating skill. This compares quite favorably to the Witch who must rest for several turns after using her Meteor Strike ability.

More than that, the ability to continually attack really brings out the potential of the Beating Sun skill. Since Burning Sun has a good chance of going off with every strike, Mwindo can do massive AoE damage and also act as a precision interrupter. By striking at just the right time, it’s very possible to prevent another player from launching a last-second healing spell or force them to waste a turn removing the Beating Sun effect.

History[]

The epic tale of Mwindo has been passed down by the Nyanga people of Africa for many generations through oral storytelling, although its exact origins are unknown. The story tells of a powerful chief named Shemwindo who had seven wives. Shemwindo decreed that his wives should bear only female children. When his seventh wife bore a male child, he attempted to kill the baby. The baby survived and vowed to hone his magical powers and eventually return to overthrow the evil reign of his father. Before that happened however, Mwindo spent many years building up his strength. During this time, in order to avoid the attention of his father, Mwindo magically transformed himself into a woman. He will only regain his true form when he is ready to overcome his father’s tyranny.
